Adaptor and withdrawal sleeves are often used to install and remove bearings. Adaptor and withdrawal sleeves are used to mount bearings, in small or medium-sized format, on a cylindrical shaft quickly and easily with a conical bore. In addition, adaptor and withdrawal sleeves are suitable for removal without damaging the shaft journals. The adaptor and withdrawal sleeves, suitable for medium-sized bearings, also come with oil supply channels and distribution grooves. This allows the pressurised oil method to be applied, allowing even easier and better installation and/or removal.

A hydraulic nut should ideally be used to remove large bearings. If the threaded part of the bush is projecting out of the far end of the shaft or the trunk of the shaft, it is necessary to fit a support ring with the largest possible wall thickness in the bore of the bush. This prevents distortion and damage to the thread when hydraulic pressure is applied. It is also recommended that a stop be placed behind the hydraulic nut during the removal process; this stop is attached to/mounted on the shaft. This will prevent the bush and hydraulic nut from shooting out.
