The CARB® bearing combines the self-aligning capacity of spherical bearings with the axial movement capability of cylindrical roller bearings. Furthermore, CARB® bearings offer the option of a compact size yet high load capacity. As a result, it also compares favourably to needle bearings.
CARB® bearings are single row bearings with long, slightly barrel-shaped symmetrical rollers. The outermost ring has a torus-shaped race with a profile that extends past the centre of the bearing. CARB® bearings are virtually insensitive to the thermal expansion of the shaft in the bearing. As the rollers of CARB® bearings are self-aligning, the load is always favourably distributed across the length of the roller. As a result, the load is distributed, positively impacting the development of heat in the bearing. Lower operating temperatures will extend the service life of the lubricant and the bearing.
