SKF Single-row deep groove ball bearing INSOCOAT® Steel Open

For bearings in electric motors, generators or similar devices, there is a danger that the surfaces of the rolling element and the grooves within the bearing could be damaged by the current flow, and the quality of the lubricating grease would quickly be impaired. The risk of "electro-erosion" increases considerably when the motor is controlled by a frequency regulator. To protect the bearing against current flow, SKF has developed the INSOCOAT bearing.

INSOCOAT bearings with coated o-race
Bearings with electrical coating on the outer surface of the o-race are the most common kind of bearings. They are marked with the supplement VL0241.

INSOCOAT bearings with coated i-race
Bearings with the electrically insulating INSOCOAT coating in the bore hole of the i-race provide additional protection against damage from current, which is due to the higher impedance of the smaller coated surfaces. They are marked with the supplement VL2071.
